Travis Joyal (Baldwin, MA), a freshman injured in the MACH-South Semifinals vs Kennesaw St has been released from the hospital. He is home in Massachussets where he continues to rehabilitate. We continue to wish him well in his recovery.

Nationals Schedule Released

The ACHA has released the schedule for the 2012 Division II National Championships in Ft Myers. FL hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University. Each team is guaranteed 3 games in pool play and the team that wins the pool will advance to play in the national semifinals. All games will be played at Germain Arena in Estero, FL and broadcast on FastHockey. All information on the tournament can be found on the Nationals website.

Fri 3/16 UMBC v Michigan St 12:00 pm Green Rink

Sat 3/17 UMBC v Arizona St 11:45 am Blue Rink

Sun 3/18 UMBC v New Hampshire 9:00am Blue Rink

Championship Not Without a Loss as Joyal Goes Down

In an incident that occurred on Saturday's game vs Kennesaw State, UMBC Freshman forward Travis Joyal (Baldwin, MA) sustained a serious head injury. He was hit from behind into the boards, dislodging his helmet and causing him to strike his head on the ice. Travis was taken off on a stretcher, and transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital. The game was delayed for approximately 30 minutes as Travis was treated and taken from the ice surface and the ice was cleaned up following the incident. He is currently still in the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery over the coming weeks.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Travis and his family during this difficult time, and wish him a speedy recovery and return to the school and the team. The program has appreciated the outpouring of support and well-wishes from the UMBC, MACH and ACHA communities, and we request that you keep Travis in your thoughts and prayers during the coming days and weeks.
