Background:
Matt joins UMBC after a few post-graduate years in Juniors.  A play-making forward, Matt also has the size to battle in front of the net.  Entered Junior hockey after helping lead the Howard Huskies to the Southeastern District Championships in 2009.  Matt transitioned to Junior hockey in the 2009-10 season with the Washington Nationals of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) where he had 11 goals and 2 assists in 36 games.  Moved to the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) and Capital Disctrict Selects for the 2010-11 season.  Played in all game situations, posting 9 goals and 10 assists in 41 games.

Son of Brenda and Kevin Bloom. Has a sister Ally. Born November 18, 1991.
